How eGMS benefits you

There are many capabilities and benefits to the new system and these are dependent on your role:

 
 

Grantees

  • Grantees will receive their grant award letters (GALs) in an online format via the system - GALs will no longer be posted, making this a more efficient and secure process
  • Upon acceptance of the award, the lead applicant and host institution will be required to accept our terms and conditions online, prior to activating the award. Paperwork will not be sent in the post making it faster to process
  • Grantees will receive online tasks to complete e.g. annual research updates and scientific milestone reports with clear deadlines by which they will need to be submitted
  • Contact details (e.g. host institution; publication lists etc.) will be securely stored on the system which can be used to pre-populate fields on future application forms, making it a faster process

Applicants

  • For the majority of our funding schemes, applicants will need to check whether they are eligible to apply by carrying out an eligibility quiz
  • All applications for funding schemes need to be submitted via eGMS. A check list of tasks associated with the application form will be available to allow applicants to see which parts of the application form have been completed successfully and which ones still need to be completed before it can be submitted
  • The use of drop-down lists will improve the speed of completing application forms
  • For those who have previously registered on our system, contact information will automatically pre-populate sections of the application form, thus reducing the time it takes to complete an application form
  • The system will allow co-authoring of applications. Co-investigators/collaborators will be able to interact with the applicant and application form online prior to submitting the proposal to Cancer Research UK

Peer reviewers

  • Potential peer reviewers will be able to accept to review an application online as well as access it and submit their comments via the system
  • The deadline by which the reviewer needs to submit their review will be clearly stated within the system

Host institution administrators

  • All awards and payment schedules will be available for the host institution administrators to view online
  • Award reconciliations and equipment claims will be carried out online by the host institution
  • All post-award tasks will be easy to manage with clear deadlines by which they need to be submitted
