Clinical Trial Schemes
Clinical Trials test new cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. Our trials look for outcomes such as disease progression, survival and mortality, as well as assessing toxicity and the late effects of treatment. We also support trials in the areas of prevention, screening and early diagnosis.
If you are not sure which trial scheme to apply to for funding, a scheme guide can be downloaded from the right of this page. If you are still uncertain please email a two-page summary of the trial to confirm which is the right committee for your trial. A summary proforma can be downloaded from the right of this page.
The Feasibility Study Project Grants scheme enables preparatory studies to assess the activity, feasibility or toxicity of new treatment approaches. The studies can also be used to screen out inactive treatments.
The New Agents Committee (NAC) trials scheme provides a one-step process for selecting new anti-cancer treatments and diagnostics and taking them into early clinical trials.
Cancer Research UK welcomes studies for cancer treatment directed at the tumour such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery with the principle objective of improving survival.
The Population Research Committee (PRC) Programme Grants are intended to provide long-term support for broad, multi-disciplinary research into clinical and public health epidemiology, and educational and behavioural research in areas of prevention, screening and early diagnosis.
