Project Grants
Project grants provide support for a defined piece of work. The objectives of a Project grant should be driven by a clear hypothesis and should be achieved within the specified timescale of the grant.
This scheme funds research in all types of biomarkers (predisposition, screening, diagnostic, prognostic, predictive, pharmacological and surrogate response) using invasive (i.e., surgical specimens or biofluids) and imaging technologies (i.e., MRI, CT, PET, SPECT, other nuclear medicine methods, ultrasound or optical).

Discovery Committee Grants scheme is the sole Cancer Research UK scheme operating for managed development of projects arising from its basic research portfolio. Also the scheme is responsible for Intellectual Property arising from outside the Cancer Research UK portfolio, but managed through Cancer Research Technology.

The Prospective Sample Collections Project Grants scheme provides funding for prospective sample collections associated with clinical trials.
This scheme provides support for a time specific and defined piece of work with direct relevance to tobacco control, specifically proposals in tobacco control policy research, advocacy or campaigning activities.
