The temporary funding scheme for Travel for Meetings is now closed
From April 2009, Cancer Research UK will allow the allocations for salary and running expenses within each instalment to be vired to other salary and running expenses allocations within that instalment (please refer to section 6.2 of the Terms and Conditions and Administrative Guidelines for Research Grants and Awards for details).
As a result Cancer Research UK will no longer issue supplementary grants, which includes supplements to cover travel and attendance at conferences. However, the open virement policy will allow you to use any underspend from salaries and running expenses for travel to conferences as long as the expenditure is within the limits outlined in our travel guidelines document.
Applications for new awards may not request additional funds for travel and conferences as part of their financial request, but we will allow requests for travel and subsistence as part of the research proposal, in the following cases:
- Travel expenses for participants in a trial or study;
- Travel between sites for a two-site application;
- Travel for visits to and from the group of a named collaborator;
- Travel associated with a training programme approved as part of the award.
Cancer Research UK-funded PhD students can continue to apply for a supplementary travel grant for a scientific meeting. Please contact Donia Sadik for details.
