National Awareness and Early Diagnosis initiative

Diagnosing cancer earlier, when treatment is more likely to be successful, could save thousands of lives every year in the UK.

To help achieve this, the UK government's Cancer Reform Strategy set out a commitment to establish the National Awareness and Early Diagnosis Initiative (NAEDI), aiming to increase awareness of the signs and symptoms of cancer and promote early detection.

One way that NAEDI will achieve this is by bringing a consortium of funding partners together to provide up to £7.5 million over 5 years, supporting a range of research projects across the country.

Under the auspices of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI), a call has been put out for research proposals aimed at increasing awareness and early diagnosis. The funding partners will support high quality research in areas with the greatest potential impact.

See the NAEDI microsite for more information about the programme.
