My research interests are:

The replication of damaged DNA and the involvement of the recently discovered Y-family of DNA polymerases.

Genetic disorders with defects in the repair of UV damage and transcription. The three disorders xeroderma pigmentosum, Cockayne Syndrome and trichothiodystrophy have similar molecular defects but quite different clinical features. We are trying to understand the genotype-phenotype relationships.

SMC proteins involved in DNA repair in yeast and man. The conserved SMC5-6 protein complex is involved in several DNA repair processes. We are investigating the architecture and function of the complex.
