Research Goals
Our research goal is the development of advanced non-linear imaging including multi-photon fluorescence imaging with fluorescence lifetime information as well as second harmonic imaging (SHG) for tumour detection in live cells and biopsies.

Qualifications and Personal History
Stefanie Reichelt is a biologist with a strong background in molecular and cell biology and a keen interest in visualising cellular events with new imaging techniques. The last five years she has worked with Brad Amos, who is one of the key developers of confocal microscopy, at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) on the application of new confocal microscopes and multi-photon imaging. They have developed high quality low-cost confocal systems, and an optical system, which, by reducing the confocal stringency of the system, allows living cells to be imaged almost indefinitely with little photo damage.

Joined Cancer Research UK Cambridge Research Institute in April 2005.
