After a first degree in Experimental Psychology in Oxford, Dr Sharpe undertook physiology research in California before training in medicine at Cambridge. He undertook postgraduate training in medicine in Cambridge and psychiatry training in Oxford. His qualifications include an MD from Cambridge, and Fellowships of the Royal Colleges of Physicians and of Psychiatrists.He currently holds a Personal Chair in Psychological Medicine and Symptoms Research at the University of Edinburgh and Honorary Consultant in Psychological Medicine to the Edinburgh Hospitals.
