Research Goals
To understand the molecular mechanisms responsible for deregulated transcription by RNA polymerases I and III in transformed cells and to determine the impact of this deregulation.

1982-1986 - BA (1st class Hons.) in Biochemistry, Queen's College, University of Oxford
1986-1990 - PhD in Molecular Biology (supervisor: Dr Peter Rigby), National Institute for Medical Research, Mill Hill, London
1990-1991 - Postdoctoral position with Dr Rob White, Department of Anatomy, University of Cambridge
1991-1995 - Postdoctoral position with Dr Steve Jackson, Wellcome Trust/Cancer Research UK Gurdon Institute, University of Cambridge
1995-1999 - Lecturer in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Institute of Biomedical and Life Sciences, University of Glasgow
1996-2001 - Jenner Research Fellow of the Lister Institute of Preventive Medicine, Institute of Biomedical and Life Sciences, University of Glasgow
1999-2005 - Professor of Gene Transcription, Institute of Biomedical and Life Sciences, University of Glasgow

Joining Beatson Institute for Cancer Research as a Group Leader in December 2006.
