Research Goals
1. To design novel viral vectors for the systemic delivery of the gene for our prodrug converting enzyme, CPG2. Following expression of the CPG2 we will optimise delivery of our prodrugs to yield efficacy of GDEPT in a range of different tumour models.
2. To study the mechanism of action of novel therapeutic compounds that target the RAS/RAF/ERK pathway (in collaboration with Professor Richard Marais).
Qualifications and Personal History
BSc Chemistry, UCL
PhD Biochemistry, UCL
MRC Postdoctoral Fellowship at Imperial College School Medicine followed by a Cancer Research Campaign (now known as Cancer Research UK) grant to develop ADEPT (antibody-directed enzyme prodrug therapy) as a therapy for colorectal carcinoma treatment at the Institute of Cancer Research.
ADEPT trials utilising our prodrugs have been completed in Cancer Research UK sponsored trials at The Royal Free Hospital with Professor Richard Begent. We have subsequently worked on developing GDEPT systems and BRAF inhibitors.
