Tumour Pathology Group
One main research topic is the study of angiogenesis in human tumours. We are producing antibodies against novel molecules regulated by hypoxia and angiogenic factors to investigate their expression in solid tumours and haematological malignancies. We are investigating the molecular basis of tumours growing without and with angiogenesis using DNA Microarray and Comparative Genomic Hybridisation. Furthermore we are investigating the role of macrophages in angiogenesis.
Other lines of research include:
- molecular profiling of lung carcinomas,
- immunohistochemical study of pre-neoplastic lesions in the lung,
- classification of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas,
- in collaboration with the Cancer Research UK Medical Statistic Unit, we are carrying out a methodological study on the evaluation of prognostic factors in cancer.
We offer pathology support for the other groups of Cancer Research UK Oxford Cancer Centre.
