To assess reliably all treatments for operable breast cancer.
To share the considerable experience gained in this type of research with others, especially through the Cochrane Collaboration.
To produce empirical evidence of the relative benefits of different aspects of the conduct of systematic reviews.
To influence the conduct, and improve the quality, of systematic reviews.
