Scientific summary

Topo2 plays a major role in the removal of catenanes arising from DNA replication and is essential for efficient sister chromatid segregation. Since 2000 evidence has accumulated, both from S. cerevisiae and vertebrates, that topo2 is a target of SUMOylation.
