Welcome to Dundee Cancer Research UK Co-operative Centre
Dundee currently hosts 21 research teams funded by Cancer Research UK. These research teams have overlapping research interests in the biology of cell proliferation and its regulation, epithelial cell biology and the molecular biology of nucleic acids. They are located both in the College of Life Sciences on the main University Campus and in the Medical School at Ninewells Hospital.
The CR-UK Co-operative Centre in Dundee was established on 1st January 2002 to maximise the benefits of having this local concentration of related cancer research groups. The explicit aims of the Co-operative Centre are to:
- Enhance the flow of information and resources between Co-op members through a yearly Retreat.
- Bring together clinicians involved in cancer research with scientists working on the fundamental aspects of the disease through a yearly Cancer Forum.
- Develop ways to share access to key equipment.
- Provide a central focus to enhance recruitment and local fundraising.
- Further develop Dundee as a centre of excellence for cancer research.
