New investigator awards
Cancer Research UK is committed to developing the next generation of leaders in cancer research. If you have a strong track record of research and are aiming to become a leader in your field, then our funding schemes and career opportunities can help you achieve your goals. We welcome applications from anyone whose research is relevant to understanding, preventing, diagnosing or treating cancer.
In the coming year, we aim to support a strong cohort of new investigators in UK universities, as well as several new Junior Group Leaders in our institutes. Find out how we support new investigators by reading our latest report.
This scheme provides six years' research support and salaries for outstanding scientists or clinicians with six to twelve years' postdoctoral research experience who wish to develop a research group.
These fellowships provide six years' research support and salaries for promising postdoctoral scientists who wish to achieve independence in their research for the first time.
These awards provide five years' research support and salaries for exceptional scientists in the UK university sector who are within three years of taking up a HEFC funded post and who are looking to establish their own research group.
Our five Institutes regularly recruit new Junior Group Leaders in a range of different research fields. The position typically provides funding for your salary and a small start-up package including laboratory support for five to seven years.
